Many documents should be made in the whole freight process for the safety of connection with imported and exported goods. Each document has specific functon but they are independent and influence ach other. They connect with shipment, port and the goods, and they have their own right and responsibility.

Below are some major freight documentation according to the business process. 

BOOKING NOTE

Booking note used to be called “Goods consignment note”, refers to the document filled by the shipper according to the trade contract and L/C terms, to shipping for the carrier and the agents. According to the booking note and shipping line, port of call, shipment date and vesselspace and so on, carrier will accept shipping if it is suitable. 

SHIPPING ORDER

Shipping order is document issued by shipping companies who accept the carrier’s shipping application to order the captain to load the goods for the carrier. Shipping order also can used as loading list, as well as one of the major documents for the consignor to procedures declaration of goods for export to the customs. So shipping order also called “custom document”. To shipper, shipping order is the certification of shipment. MATES RECEIPT

Mate’s receipt is a receipt that vessel receives goods and a voucher that goods have been made shipment. MANIFEST

It mainly includes detailed information of goods, polport of loading, B/L number, vessel name, names an shipper and consignee,labelnumber and so on. It is a certification that vessel ships listed goods.

DELIVERY ORDER

Delivery order is a voucher that consignee could take delivery of goods from loading and discharging ports with B/L original or copy B/L and valid assurance.
